nkoda App — UI/UX Design Challenge

UI

UX

Art Direction

Graphic Design

This project was originally developed as part of a creative interview design brief for nkoda. Focused on driving user engagement and enhancing personalization, the challenge required a rapid, strategic deep-dive into the platform's visual identity and user experience. I was incredibly inspired by the potential of the brief, and the resulting landing page, social assets, and onboarding flow represent a comprehensive exploration of modern, user-centric music app design.

A three-task brief including:

Task a.

A landing page promoting the music of Mozart on the app.

Task b.

A sponsored social post for Instagram promoting the above.

Task c. (Bonus UX/UI question)

A visual interface in the app that allows a user to select music relevant to the instrument they play, so we can give them recommendations for music.

My answer to the brief

Task c description:

Simplified search engine to help the user find the music which relates to the instrument they play.

Instructions are as follows:

  • 1. Simply click on the 'you' icon on the navigation bar as you open the app.

  • 2. Select the instrument you play, you can also type the name in the search bar or scroll down to find the desired instrument.

  • 3. This screen shows how to select the instrument and the green tick indicates one has been selected, you can also select more than one at a time.

  • 4. This step is to select your genre of music e.g. classical or jazz. It is a preview of the list with no selected genres.

  • 4. - Active. This step is a preview of the list after you have selected two of the genres you play.

  • 5.  This step shows your search results for the steps you’ve selected and the app would pick the relevant music based on the instruments you play.

  • 5. - Notifications. Going from the 5th step (Your Choices) you would also be able to click on the edit icon which would take you to the notification page, where you would be able to edit the notifications related to the music recommended through your instrument.

  • 6. The final step shows your homepage on the nkoda app, it would highlight Your Choices page (5) which would be the same list of recommended music based on your instruments.

All UI elements used in the app interface concept are for illustrative purposes only. These are fonts, copy and icons as well as music titles and genres. These would be replaced as per nkoda brand guidelines.
